Women's Basketball: Game Day Preview vs. NJCU (NJAC Quarterfinals)

Montclair, NJ – The No.3 seeded Montclair State women's basketball team faces off against No. 6 seed New Jersey City University in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Quarterfinals Tuesday evening.

Tipoff inside the Panzer Athletic Center is scheduled for 7 pm, with live stats and video links available on montclairathletics.com. Video can also be found on the Red Hawk Sports Network YouTube Channel.

TICKET PRICES
Tickets prices for all adults are $5, while children, students, and senior citizens are $2. The first 50 Montclair State students who arrive after 6:30 pm wearing red with a Montclair State ID will be admitted free of charge.
 
LAST TIME OUT 
The Red Hawks (14-9, 12-6 NJAC) dropped their second straight contest Wednesday as they fell 75-69 at Rowan. The Red Hawks clinched the No. 3 seed as No. 4 William Paterson fell at Kean despite the setback. Junior JULIA SUTTON poured in a career-high 28 points in the loss, while KENDALL HODGES chipped in 13 points, three rebounds, three steals, and two assists.

SCOUTING THE GOTHIC KNIGHTS
The Gothic Knights clinched the No. 6 seed on Wednesday evening with a 67-57 victory over Stockton. NJCU outscored Stockton 24-10 over the final 10 minutes and received a double-double of 25 points and 10 assists from Damaris Rodriguez. NJCU closed out their season with wins in three of their final four games, with the lone blemish coming to nationally-ranked Amherst last Monday.

LAST MEETING
The Red Hawks fell 59-55 in their last meeting on February 12. Montclair State erased a five-point fourth-quarter deficit and took a one-point lead with 2:19 to go on a jumper by JULIA SUTTON. The Gothic Knights answered back by outscoring MSU 9-4 the rest of the way to pick up the victory.

SERIES HISTORY
The Red Hawks are 69-5 all-time against NJCU, with the Gothic Knights snapping a 37-game losing skid last spring in the NJAC Championship Game. The Red Hawks are 34-2 all-time inside the Panzer Athletic Center and 67-4 in NJAC matchups. This will be the third consecutive season the two sides have met in the postseason, with Montclair earning a 57-45 win in the NJAC Semifinals in 2019-20 as Alex McKinnon recorded her 1,000th career point. Last spring, NJCU won 64-60, with Montclair State getting 24 points off the bench from NICKIE CARTER.
