Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State swimming and diving teams closes out the regular season with a dual meet against William Paterson Saturday afternoon.

The meet will be held in Wayne, NJ, at the Wrightman Pool on the campus of William Paterson at 1 pm.
LAST TIME OUT
Both the men (6-2, 1-2 NJAC) and women's (6-2-1, 2-1-1 NJAC) teams picked up wins over Ramapo College in their last meet on January 22. The men's team notched a 158-98 triumph as the women's team celebrated the three seniors with a 158-94 victory. Senior
TAYLOR WADDLETON and freshman
JULIE TIEDEMANN went 1-2 respectively in both long-distance events on the women's side. Waddleton won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 11:12.70, with Tiedemann coming in at 11:14.02. The two were even closer in the 500 freestyle, with Waddleton (5:29.52) prevailing again as she out-touched Tiedemann (5:29.99) by .47 seconds. On the men's side,
LUCAS GOMES won three individual events (100-butterfly, 50-freestyle, and 100-freestyle) while
BRANDON DO,
TYLER DORSETT, and
SPENSER DUBOIS notched individual wins.
RYAN KAPPES was also a two-time winner for men, winning the 1,000-free in 10:18.84 and the 500-free in 4:58.27.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
The Pioneer men enter with a 6-5 mark but are 0-3 in the NJAC. In their last meet, they were topped by The College of New Jersey 148-79 on January 29. Thomas Haughey and Shane Apito tallied three second-place finishes in the losing effort. The women's team (9-4, 0-4 NJAC) dropped a 129-49 decision to the Lions.
MEET HISTORY
The Montclair State men are 13-2 all-time against their Route 46 rivals, dropping back-to-back duals in 2007-08 and 2008-09. The women are 34-14 against William Paterson, including 12 consecutive victories. Their last setback came on February 7, 2009, when the Pioneers earned a 165-133 win.
LAST MEETING
The Red Hawk men registered a 168-68 win while the women's won 165-61 in their last meet on February 20, 2021.
LIDIA BOGUSLAWSKA won the 50 and 100-freestyle while also joining the victorious 200-freestyle relay squad.
EMILY ROTHAMEL picked up two wins as the Red Hawks collected eight individual victories on the day.

TYLER DORSETT, and
CHRYSTIAN MUHLEISEN won two events to guide the men's team.
UP NEXT
The Red Hawks will compete in the four-day Metropolitan Championships beginning February 17. The event will be held at the Sonny Werblin Pool on the Rutgers University campus in New Brunswick, NJ.
