ALI CAVALLARO fired a one-hitter in the opener and senior second baseman
ALEXIS LAW drove in four runs on the day as Montclair State extended its winning streak to four with a sweep of Hunter College on Friday at the MSU Softball Stadium.
Senior
ALYSSA BOROZAN had four hits and two RBI with
KAYLA VOLANTE tossing six-plus solid innings in the second game as the Red Hawks moved to 8-3 on the season.
Cavallaro improved to 4-2 on the year as allowed a one-single to Samantha Marsaca in the second. She retired the final 11 batters she faced and finished with 10 strikeouts.
The Red Hawks gave Cavallaro the offensive support she needed in the third with five runs.
JENNA MELUSO singled through the left side scoring Borozan with the first run.
DANIELLE SIBILIO added an RBI single before Law delivered the big blow with a three-run double for the 5-0 lead.
Borozan plated two more with a singled in the fifth and accounted for MSU's final run as she maneuvered around the tag a t home plate on a
KAYLA COSENTINO RBI single.
Law finished 2-for-2 with Meluso recording two hits.
In the nightcap, Hunter grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a run-scoring single by Olivia Palumbo. Montclair immediately answered with two int its half. Sibilio got the first on a sac fly with DeBell giving the Red Hawks a 2-1 lead on a single to left field.
MSU added single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to account for its final scores. Cosentino doubled in Borozan in the third with Borzan picking up an RBI in the fourth on base hit. Law's ground out in the fifth plated Cosentino.
Volante improved to 4-2 on the season as she recorded the first 17 outs. She allowed three hits, struck out five and walked two.
Borozan ws 3-for-4 with Cosentino and Sibilio each collecting two hits.
Montclair State is back in action on Sunday, March 20 on the road in Center Valley, PA. MSU takes on DeSales University at 1:00 pm.
