JENNA MELUSO went 7-for-10 and finished with three RBI on the day as Montclair State made it six straight victories with a sweep at DeSales University on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Hawks (10-3) won the opener 8-1 before scoring four times in the eighth inning to win a slugfest in the nightcap, 15-12. Montclair blasted four home runs in the game and five on the day.
Montclair took a 4-0 lead in the third inning of the first game.
ALYSSA BOROZAN singled and Meluso doubled with both scoring on a Kyla Cosentino single.
KATIE DEBELL added an RBI single and
AMBER REED brought home DeBell with a double for the four-run lead.
Borozan added to the lead in the fourth with an RBI double and Danielle Sbilio plated a run with a ground out making the score, 6-0. The advantage grew to seven in the sixth on an
ANNALESA DILAURENZIO single. The Bulldogs would get on the board in the sixth, however
ALEXIS LAW answered that with a solo homer in the seventh for the final margin.

ALI CAVALLARO recorded the first 19 outs allowing a run and six hits, striking out four and walking three. Freshman
SAGE RIZZI closed out the victory.
Meluso was 3-for-4 with Borozan and
AMBER REED each recording two hits.
The second game began with bang for the Red Hawks.
KAYLA COSENTINO belted a two-run homer and Siblio followed that up with a solo shot for a 3-0 lead. Reed collected ad RBI single as did
CHLOE SAPERSTEIN giving Montclair a 5-0 advantage.
Borozan and Meluso both had RBI doubles in the third extending the lead to 7-1 and the Red Hawks led 8-2 in the fourth as DeBell blasted a solo homer. But DeSales erupted with a seven-run fourth inning to take a 9-8 lead capped off by a grand slam from Reilly Kerr. MSU tied it in the fifth Cosentino sac fly and took the lead in the sixth, 11-9 as Borozan cracked a two-run homer.
DeSales answered that in the bottom of the seventh on Kristen Suran two-run homer knotting the contest at 11-11 and into extra innings the game went.
Montclair would strike first with four runs. Borozan delivered two on a bases-loaded single. Meluso doubled in a run and Borozan scampered home on a wild pitch for a 14-11 MSU lead. DeSales also loaded the bases in the eighth and plated one run on a sacrifice fly. However, that would be all the Bulldogs would get as Cavallaro retired the final two batters to end the game.
Borozan (5 RBI) and Meluso had four hits apiece with Siblio, Saperstein and DiLaurenzio collecting two hits each to pace a 19-hit Montclair State attack.
The Red Hawks are back home for the start of a five-date homestand beginning Wednesday, March 23 against Drew University (3:00 pm).
