Arcede Nets Five Goals as Women's Lacrosse Tops Hood 17-5

Frederick, Md. – Senior Katilyn Arcede notched five goals, and two assists as the Montclair State women's lacrosse team topped Hood 17-5 for their third consecutive win Saturday.

TRISTIN KONEN and Arcede opened the scoring 4:15 into the game for the Red Hawks (4-4) before the Blazers (4-4) cut the lead in half on a tally by Jess Lyons. Arcede and Konen would connect for the following two Red Hawk markers, and goalkeeper ALLYN LILIEN made four saves in the opening quarter to give MSU a 4-1 edge. The second quarter was all Montclair as KARLI NEVARD extended the lead to four 2:27 into the frame. Arcede completed the hat-trick and added an additional goal as MSU took a 7-1 lead into halftime.

The Red Hawks held a slim 18-17 advantage in shots during the first half, but Lilien made 10 stops to help Montclair take the lead at the half.

Montclair opened the third quarter with three straight goals, with Konen completing her hat-trick 31 ticks into the stanza. The host Blazers stopped the run with three markers of their own, including a man-up tally by Katy Przybocki. Montclair State called a timeout, and it paid off, with rookie CHELSEA STACK converting a feed from Arcede. The Red Hawks closed the game out by outscoring the Blazers 6-1 in the fourth quarter, with RHIANNON BROWN netting three markers over the final 15 minutes.

Lilien set a new season-high of 17 saves as MAEVE CARNEY and AMBER GONZALEZ caused two turnovers. Konen scooped up five ground balls, with HALEY DORAN, Arcede, and Gonzalez handing a pair of assists. Hood was led by a goal and assist from Rebecca Turner and Liz Connelly in the setback.

The Red Hawks open up New Jersey Athletic Conference action on April 9 as they face defending NJAC Champions and nationally-ranked TCNJ at 3:30 pm in Ewing, NJ.
