The two sides traded goals before the hosts grabbed their first advantage of the day, with Nick DeLoriers potting a goal to put McDaniel up 3-2. The lead lasted a little over five minutes before the Red Hawks notched the final three goals of the frame.

Dancsecs scored with 4:38 to go before Covino tallied one with a shade over two minutes left in the quarter. Off the ensuing face-off, the Red Hawks marched down the field before Boyle found the back of the net. The Green Terror trimmed the deficit to one early in the second period, but TYLER MCCREERY, Boyle, and Dancsecs recorded goals to send MSU into halftime with an 8-4 lead.

The Red Hawks dominated the second half, as they opened up with three goals within a 1:36 span early on.
