Women's Lacrosse Blanks Rutgers-Camden 19-0

Konen Tallies 100th Career Point in Win

Montclair, NJ – Senior TRISTIN KONEN netted her 100th career point as the Montclair State women's lacrosse team blanked Rutgers-Camden 19-0 Saturday afternoon.

Konen, who transferred in from Albright College after her freshman campaign, registered four goals and two assists in the shutout win. The clean sheet was the first in exactly eight years when they picked up a 17-0 win over Ramapo.

The Red Hawks (5-5, 1-1 NJAC) wasted little time, scoring 54 seconds into the contest as RHIANNON BROWN opened the scoring. KAITLYN ARCEDE added her first of the day nearly four minutes later off a Brown feed before the roles reversed at the 9:52 mark to give MSU a 3-0 advantage. Konen hit the century mark with her first goal of the day with 7:18 left in the first, as she scored the following three markers to help Montclair open up a 6-0 lead after one.

HALEY DORAN and CHELSEA STACK had multiple points in the second period, with Doran tallying two goals and Stack a goal and an assist. KARLI NEVARD finished the first-half barrage with an unassisted marker with 2:18 left, sending Montclair into halftime up 11-0. Montclair held a 25-5 edge in shots and was a perfect 7-of-7 on clears in the first 30 minutes. The Red Hawk defense was also active, forcing 12 turnovers and scooping up 16 ground balls.

The second half was more of the same, as the Red Hawks notched four goals in the first 6:23. During the run, MORGAN CONNON tallied a pair, as Konen and Brown each potted one. Arcede picked up assists on the final two goals of the third quarter, including one on rookie HAYLEE ROLLER's first collegiate goal. The Red Hawks polished scoring with two goals in the fourth quarter, as MAEVE CARNEY assisted on Nevard's goal before adding one of her own.

CLAUDIA FRYE anchored the defensive unit with five caused turnovers and three ground balls as ALLYN LILIEN made four saves in goal. Brown (three goals, three assists), Konen (four goals, two assists), and Arcede (one goal, five assists) paced the offense while Connon corralled nine draws. In the setback, G Bellon made 12 saves for the Scarlet Raptors (2-8, 0-2 NJAC).

The Red Hawks will host Ramapo College on Tuesday at 7 pm to continue NJAC action.
