Men's Lacrosse Blanks Keystone 26-0

Red Hawks Notch First Shut Out Since 2013

La Plume, Pa. – The Montclair State men's lacrosse team saw 16 different student-athletes record at least one point as the Red Hawks blanked Keystone College 26-0 Friday afternoon.

The Red Hawks (7-4, 1-1 CSAC) notched their first shutout since a 20-0 blanking of Mount St. Mary on March 23, 2013. The Giants (0-5, 0-2 CSAC) got six saves from Angel Rodriguez in the setback.

Montclair State tallied 12 goals in the first quarter, their highest output in a quarter this season. MATT DANCSECS opened the scoring 50 seconds into the game, while MIKE MCCREERY scored back-to-back markers to extend the lead to 4-0. TYLER MCCREERY had notched two goals and four assists by the end of the first quarter, while MIKE MCCREERY poured in three goals and two assists.

The second quarter was more of the same, with JOE COVINO, Jack Noberto, THOMAS ROPER, and JACK HAEMMERLE tallying goals. The Red Hawks outshot Keystone 28-4 in the first half and were 8-of-9 on clears. The visitors also held a commanding edge in faceoffs (17-1) and ground balls (27-3) during the opening 30 minutes of play.

SEBASTIAN GRAZIANO, CONNOR GABILANES, CHRISTIAN BOYLE, Roper, JOE COVINO, ANDREA FIORENZA, Haemmerle, TYLER MCCREERY, and Norberto recorded two goals, while MIKE MCCREERY had three. Dancsecs added four assists to go along with his goal, while DAVID METZGER recorded the shutout by making four saves. On the defensive end, JEFF FELTER caused four turnovers while JONATHAN ROBERSON added three. DAVID DRISCOLL and ANDREA FIORENZA combined to go 25-of-29 on faceoffs, with each recording eight ground balls.

The Red Hawks return to the field on Wednesday to host Cairn at 6 pm at Sprague Field.
