Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State softball team was knocked off by Ramapo in both ends of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon.
Ramapo (13-4, 5-1 NJAC) notched 8-2 and 7-0 triumphs over the Red Hawks (17-10, 1-5 NJAC).
The Roadrunners did all of their damage in the first inning, scoring eight runs on seven hits while taking advantage of a pair of MSU errors. The big blow in the frame came from Marissa DiPaolo, who belted a grand slam with one out. The pitching duo was
KAYLA VOLANTE, and

Montclair chipped away, scoring a pair of runs in the fourth. After
KATIE DEBELL reached on an error,
AMBER REED doubled her in with a drive to right-center. Seretis came up two batters later and switched places with Reed, doubling to left-center. The Red Hawks had one additional chance, loading the bases in the seventh. Seretis reached on a fielder's choice before
ALEXIS LAW singled and
MARIAH CARRASCO walked. Pitcher Mahogany Wheeler buckled down, registering a strikeout and fly out to end the game.
Reed, Sibilio, and Seretis tallied doubles in the opener, with Seretis tossing four shutout innings of relief, fanning a batter.
The Red Hawks loaded the bases in the first inning, as
KAYLA COSENTINO and Reed singled before Sibilio reached on an error. The Roadrunner pitched escaped by retiring the next two hitters. Ramapo opened game two with pair of runs in the first inning, as Wheeler had a sacrifice fly and Katie Ryigel tallied an RBI single. Montclair once again loaded the bags in the third, as Sibilio and Law singled between a Seretis walk. DiPaolo notched a strikeout to stop the MSU scoring threat.
Ramapo added a single run in the bottom of the fourth before capping off the scoring with four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Rygiel had an RBI before DiPaolo belted a two-run double as Ramapo sent 10 batters to the plate in the frame. The Red Hawks could not mount a comeback, putting just one runner on base over the final two innings.
Sibilio, Law, and Cosentino had two hits in the nightcap, while Carli Egan, Rygiel, and DiPaolo drove in two runs apiece for Ramapo.
The Red Hawks return home Tuesday, hosting Rutgers-Camden in a doubleheader at 3 pm.
