Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Battles Back to Top Ursinus, 2-1

Collegeville, Pa. – KERRI DRISCOLL and KIMBERLY CAMPBELL tallied late goals, and HALEY MARTIN made a crucial stop in the final minute to send the Montclair State women's soccer team to a 2-1, come-from-behind win over Ursinus Saturday.

Despite outshooting Ursinus 10-3 over the first 45 minutes, Montclair could not find the back of the net. It was the host Bears who drew first blood. Martin made an initial stop on Hannah Brainsky in the 36th minute, but Brainsky responded by scoring the opening marker 1:02 later. Brainsky had all three shots for the Bears in the first half, with Montclair having a final attempt by KYLINN KRAEMER stopped by goalie Kaela Frenchman.

AILEEN CAHILL's header in the 59th minute was denied by Frenchman before KYLIE PRENDERGAST and Kraemer were also rejected by the goalkeeper. The Red Hawks finally broke through in the 73rd minute and after a failed clear, Driscoll, from about 22 yards, unleashed a shot that hit the crossbar and bounced down for the defender's second career goal. Driscoll had two more attempts later that did not find the back of the net, and the game remained tied.

As time ticked away, Montclair continued to apply pressure and, for the second time in the match, got a goal that caromed off something. Campbell collected a loose ball in the box, pivoted to her strong foot, and put the ball on frame. The shot went off the goalkeeper's fingertips, off the right post, and in for the senior's second goal in as many games. Ursinus pushed numbers forwards and had one final chance to equalize. Grace Senese took advantage of a failed clearing attempt and launched a 24-yard shot on goal. Martin backed all the way into her goal, and kept the ball out before falling on the rebound to preserve the victory.

Montclair State, led by five from Driscoll, outshot Ursinus 20-5. Martin made two saves to earn her fifth victory of the season.

The Red Hawks face a stiff test on Wednesday as they host nationally-ranked Misericordia at 4 pm at MSU Soccer Park.
