No. 12/14 Women's Soccer Shuts Out Farmingdale State, 1-0

Montclair, NJ – The No. 12/14 Montclair State women's soccer team moved to 7-0-0 with a 1-0 triumph over Farmingdale State Wednesday.

AILEEN CAHILL scored off a feed from KYLIE PRENDERGAST in the third minute, and the Montclair State defense surrendered just one shot to the Rams (1-6-1) over the 90 minutes.

Prendergast took the ball down the left flank and cut in just outside the 18-yard box before delivering a low pass to Cahill. Cahill fired high, and the ball slipped under the crossbar for her fourth marker of the season. The rookie Prendergast made the same kind of run in the sixth minute, but KIMBERLY CAMPBELL's shot went over the bar. The Rams gained their only shot on goal of the day in the 39th minute, with HALEY MARTIN making a save.

Cahill had another opportunity to double the lead in the 55th minute, but her low shot went wide of the post. TARA LAMBERT and SAMANTHA GABRIELE saw their 66th tries denied by goalkeeper Lindsey Jolly. Prendergast tallied a pair of chances in the game's late stages, but Jolly was on her toes to make both denials. Montclair continued to apply pressure, tallying four additional shots in the final 10 minutes but to no avail.

The junior Cahill led the way with seven shots as Prendergast recorded six in the victory.

The Red Hawks open New Jersey Athletic Conference play Saturday as they head to Jersey City to take on NJCU at 1 pm.
