Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Del Valle, Radoncic Lead No. 23 Men's Soccer Past Oswego

Washington DC – The No. 23 Montclair men's soccer team topped Oswego State 1-0 during the first day of the Turk Emekli Classic Saturday.

Defender ENIR RADONCIC tallied his first goal in a Montclair State uniform off a corner kick for the game's lone tally. Goalkeeper BORIS DEL VALLE denied three shots to earn his first win as a Red Hawk.

After CHRIS FONTANAZZA had a shot saved by Lakers goalkeeper Matt D'Arpino the Red Hawks were awarded a corner kick in the 10th minute. Fontanazza stepped up and served the ball into the box, where Radoncic got his head on the service and put it into the top half of the goal. D'Arpino kept the Lakers at a one-goal deficit as he denied Janbi Kagahdo on a penalty kick in the 13th minute.

The Red Hawks continued to pepper the Lakers with shots, as OWEN MURPHY notched a pair and JOSIAH CRAWFORD had one on frame in the first 16 minutes. Oswego's best attempt came in the 34th minute, as Del Valle stopped a Chris Smith attempt.

Montclair held a 15-7 advantage in shots at the break and had a slim 5-2 edge in corner kicks.

Del Valle would keep the game at 1-0 in the 62nd minute as he stopped Smith again, this time off a corner kick. Both teams would be unable to find the back of the net in the second 45 minutes, and the last shot on goal came in the 82nd minute. Kyle Gehnrich had an attempt, but the goalkeeper Del Valle denied him to protect the shutout win.

Kaghado tallied a game-high six shots while Fontanazza and Crawford contributed four. Gehnrich paced the Lakers with four shots in the setback.

The Red Hawks return to the pitch tomorrow as they battle host Catholic at 2 pm.
