Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Campbell's Goal Leads Women's Soccer Past Vassar

Montclair, NJ - KIMBERLY CAMPBELL netted the lone goal of the match in the 11th minute to lead the Montclair State women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Vassar College Wednesday evening.

The goal came on the first shot of the game for either team, as KYLIE PRENDERGAST tracked down a ball heading towards the endline. The rookie slipped a pass to Campbell in the box who took a shot that the goalkeeper got her hands on, but trickled over the goalline for the senior's first marker of the season. That would be the only shot on target over the first 45 minutes for either side, with MSU holding a 3-1 advantage.

The Red Hawks threatened early in the second half but LAUREN ERNST's 58th minute try was denied by Teresa Zimmer. The Brewers netted their first shot on goal in the 73rd minute but HALEY MARTIN made the save. Vassar continued to apply pressure hunting for the equalizing goal, notching shots on frame in the 78th and 83rd minutes, yet Martin was up to the task and prevented any tries from getting through.

Martin made three saves in the win as Ernst and Campbell registered shots on goal.

The Red Hawks visit Ursinus College Saturday for a 4:30 matchup with the Bears.
