HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Montclair State (8-9, 5-5 NJAC) leveled the game at six on a TERESA WOLAK layup to cap off a 6-2 run. The Gothic Knights embarked on a 14-0 spurt, opening up a 20-6 lead. The Red Hawks entered the second down 21-12, but finished the first period on a 6-1 run.
  • The hosts cut the deficit down to 11 on a triple from ISABELLA ORLANDO and trialed by 13 at the half despite a pair of layups from MADELYN MCCREA at the end of the second period. NJCU doubled the Red Hawks in rebounds in the second quarter, grabbing 13 to Montclair's six.
  • An 8-0 Gothic Knight rally midway through the third extended the lead to 23 before Orlando capped off the third quarter by scoring with a three. The Red Hawks finished the game strong, tallying five of the final seven points in the last two minutes.

FROM THE HARDWOOD
"Today was a tough game, but we saw a lot of positive play from our younger players. ISABELLA ORLANDO and MADELYN MCCREA really stepped up, and it was great to see Megan (Duffy) back in action and getting more comfortable coming back from her injury." – Head Coach Karin Harvey.
