Stockton Upends Men's Basketball

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's basketball team suffered their first New Jersey Athletic Conference setback of the year, falling 71-55 to Stockton Saturday.
 
STEVEN BREEMAN notched his second straight double-double, going for 15 points and 12 rebounds for Montclair (11-2, 5-1 NJAC).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • A low-scoring start, Montclair inched forward 9-6 on a three-pointer from GRANT HOLBROOK. A free throw from Diante Miles even things at 18, and the two sides went nearly three minutes without another point.
  • Montclair State went on a 5-0 spurt late in the period, opening up a 23-18 lead. The Ospreys closed the period with 11 of the final 17 markers to take a three-point lead into the halftime break.
  • Both sides made 11 field goals in the opening 20 minutes, including five three-pointers.
  • Stockton opened the second half with an 8-0 run, extending the gap to double digits. The lead swelled to 18 points with 9:42 remaining.
  • Breeman tallied four consecutive markers bringing the deficit down to nine. The Red Hawks reeled down five straight points late in the frame, with MIKE JACKSON banging a three-pointer with 3:46 to go. Montclair could only get as close as nine, as Stockton finished the game with final seven tallies.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • AMIR WILLIAMS added 10 points and seven rebounds off the bench, with KALLEEM LAMBERT scoring five points in eight minutes.
  • Jackson registered nine points, with KEYON PRYCE scoring six points, five assists, and four rebounds.
