Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 11 Women's Soccer Topped By TCNJ, 4-1

Montclair, NJ - The No. 11 Montclair State University women's soccer team fell to TCNJ, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon at MSU Soccer Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • TCNJ started the match strong as they opened a two-goal advantage, scoring in the 6th and 11th minute.
  • HALEY MARTIN tallied two saves to keep Montclair (9-2-2, 3-1-2 NJAC) within striking distance.
  • The Red Hawks recorded their first shot of the game in the 14h minute, as SHANNON MULLINS sent in a right-footed attempt from just inside the box that had to be collected by the Lions goalkeeper.
  • Montclair generated a few other scoring opportunities during the first half, as KELLY FITZGERALD hit the crossbar on a shot, and Kim Campbell saw a shot get blocked by a TCNJ defender.
  • The visitors struck for their third of the match in the 47th minute following a rebound in the box.
  • Montclair found the back of the net in the 64th minute, as AILEEN CAHILL tapped in her own rebound after TCNJ initially saved her penalty kick.
  • TCNJ struck in the 72nd minute to increase their margin back to three goals.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Cahill's goal was her fifth of the season and second in the team's last three games. It also marked the 30th of her Montclair career.
  • TCNJ held a slight 12-11 edge in shots for the game.
  • Montclair had the advantage in corner kicks, 7-3.
