Second Half Surge Leads No. 6 Men's Soccer Past TCNJ

Ewing, NJ - The No. 6 Montclair State University men's soccer team defeated TCNJ 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Montclair (12-1-1, 6-0-0 NJAC) struck for the first half's only goal in the 21st minute, as ALFREDO ROJAS found AMER LUKOVIC.
  • Lukovic converted a penalty kick two minutes into the second half to double the advantage for the Red Hawks.
  • The Montclair defense was strong throughout, limiting TCNJ to one shot on goal, which came in the 59th minute and was saved by SHANE KEENAN.
  • Montclair increased the lead to three in the 70th minute as DONOVAN DAVIS found the back of the net.
  • ANTHONY VIOLA finished a feed from OWEN MURPHY for the game's final goal four minutes later.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Lukovic increased his nation-leading goal total to 22 with the brace. The forward has scored in all but one game this season for the Red Hawks and has recorded a brace in eight of those games.
  • Viola's goal was his second of the season. The midfielder has scored in each of his last two appearances. Murphy's assist increased his season total to five, tied for the team lead.
  • The goal for Davis marked the first of his Montclair career.
  • Keenan has recorded a shutout in back-to-back games and has five on the campaign.
  • Montclair outshot TCNJ 21-4 in the game and held an 11-1 advantage with shots on goal.
