Men's Basketball Cruises Past Lycoming In Season-Opener

Williamsport, Pa. - Behind 20 points from MIKE JACKSON, the Montclair State University men's basketball team defeated Lycoming, 85-49, in a wire-to-wire victory on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (1-0) started the game on an 11-0 scoring run, featuring a layup and two assists from KEYON PRYCE.
  • Montclair continued to push offensively, as they opened up a 14-point advantage at the halfway point of the first half, led by eight points from KUNGA TSERING and seven from MIKE JACKSON
  • The visitors gained their largest lead of the first half with 1:59 remaining, going up 42-20 on a layup from KYREE HENRY
  • Montclair received a balanced scoring effort after the halftime break, as they went up by 26 behind points from eight different Red Hawks with 11:35 left on the clock.
  • The Red Hawks continued their lights-out shooting with a 13-0 scoring run over four minutes to make the score 74-35 with 6:58 remaining, a lead they never relinquished.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Jackson finished with 20 points, including a game-high 15 in the first half. It marked the 12th time in his career that he reached 20 points.
  • Montclair shot 50 percent from the field and 45 percent from three. They led the entire contest, with their largest lead being 39 points during the second half.
  • 14 different Red Hawks scored in the contest.
  • Montclair's reserves outscored Lycoming's 41-22, led by Henry's eight and seven from GRANT HOLBROOK.
  • The Red Hawks defense forced 18 turnovers.

"Great team effort tonight. I'm proud of the energy our guys played with from start to finish. I thought our depth really showed tonight; we got some great contributions from several guys," said Head Coach Justin Potts.

UP NEXT
The Red Hawks will remain in Williamsport to take on Penn College on Saturday, November 11, with game time scheduled for 1:00 pm.
