Men's Basketball Cruises Past Centenary

Hackettstown, NJ – Behind 28 points and 13 rebounds from MIKE JACKSON, the Montclair State University men's basketball team knocked off Centenary 79-54 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (7-3) fell behind early in a low-scoring opening stretch, as the Cyclones opened up a 14-5 lead at the 14:25 mark.
  • Montclair used a 12-3 run to take the lead with under six minutes remaining in the half, capped off by a three-point shot from AHMAD ROBERTSON.
  • The visitors scored nine of the last 12 points of the first to go into the break with a six-point advantage.
  • After the Cyclones opened the second frame with four straight points, the Red Hawks embarked on a 15-2, highlighted by eight points from Jackson, to make the score 43-26.
  • Montclair continued its strong offensive half, outscoring Centenary 25-14 over the next 11 minutes to balloon the lead to 74-46 with under three remaining.
  • The Red Hawks were able to close the game out for their fifth road victory of the season.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Jackson set new season highs in both points and assists. The junior has reached double-figure scoring in every game this season and surpassed 20 in five contests.
  • Robertson's 10 points set a new career-high. SAMAR ABDULLAH connected four three-point shots to add 12 points off the bench.
  • Montclair held a 43-34 advantage on the boards in the contest and forced 24 Centenary turnovers.
  • 17 Red Hawks saw action in the game.
