Camden, N.J. - The Montclair State University men's basketball team edged Rutgers-Camden 72-70 on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED

The Red Hawks (4-2, 2-1 NJAC) jumped out to an early 10-3 lead behind contributions from four different starters. Montclair opened up a double-digit advantage with 14:01 remaining in the first half on a three-point shot from SAMAR ABDULLAH.

Montclair continued to hold a multi-possession lead as a KYREE HENRY three made the score 30-22 with 5:55 on the clock. Rutgers-Camden closed the half on a 10-2 scoring run to make the halftime score even.

The visitors reclaimed a five-point advantage early in the second half, but after that the two sides could not be separated by more than one possession for roughly six minutes.

Rutgers-Camden claimed their largest lead of the contest at seven points at the 11:15 mark, and pushed it up to 10 with 5:43 remaining in the game.

Montclair responded with a 12-0 scoring run over 1:37 of game time to take the lead at 63-61 on another three from Henry.

After the home side tied the score with 1:57 remaining, MIKE JACKSON connected on a three to give Montclair the lead, which they would not relinquish the rest of the way.

Henry set a new career-high with 23 points to lead all scorers in the game. He hit seven three-point shots, which was the most for a Red Hawk since February 16, 2022, when Jackson tied the program record of 10 against Rowan.

Jackson had 17 points to go along with six boards. He has recorded double-digit points in every contest this season.

KIERAN FLANAGAN tallied 12 points, six assists, and four rebounds. It marked the fourth-straight game in double figures for the guard.

Montclair forced 24 Rutgers-Camden turnovers, leading to 24 points on the other end.
