Newport News, Va. – The Montclair State men's lacrosse team dropped their inaugural Coastal Lacrosse Conference contest, falling to No. 2 Christopher Newport 20-5.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Captains (5-0, 1-0 CLC) opened with the game's first nine tallies and outshot Montclair (2-3, 0-1 CLC) 31-11 in the first half.
• MATTHEW HOLLAND got the Red Hawks on board 21 seconds into the third quarter, but the Captains responded with the following three markers. 
• ANDREA FIORENZA scored seven seconds after a CNU goal, with JOE COVINO and MIKE MCCREERY adding goals in the final minute to establish the final margin.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• ETHAN MOUNIER netted a goal and an assist for the Red Hawks.
• AIDAN LONG, JACK GRECO, LOGAN LAMARCA, and DAVID METZGER registered two caused turnovers a piece.
• Metzger made 13 saves in 52:15 of action, with BRANDON SHEVINS denying one shot.

"Overall I felt like we had some glimpses of good lacrosse but when you play the No. 2 team in the country that has to be a constant and that didn't happen today." Head Coach Matt Poskay.
