Men's Lacrosse Tames Wildcats On Senior Day

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's lacrosse team rode a nine-goal first quarter en route to a 21-8 triumph over Penn College Saturday.
 
TYLER MCCREERY had a team-high eight points for Montclair State (8-7) in the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • TYLER MCCREERY opened the scoring 1:57 into the game as JOE COVINO and MATTHEW HOLLAND recorded two goals during the first-quarter barrage. MATT DANCSECS, DAREN MAYER, MIKE MCCREERY, and AIDAN MAXWELL added goals during the run. DAVID METZGER kept the Wildcats off the board, making six first-period saves.
  • The Red Hawks poured it on during the second, outscoring Penn College 6-3. Dancsecs and Covino completed their hat tricks as TYLER MCCREERY notched a goal and an assist. Montclair outshot Penn 37-19 over the first 30 minutes.
  • Penn scored three of the first five goals in the third before Montclair went on a 4-0 spurt, bridging the third and fourth quarters. SEBASTIAN GRAZIANO netted his first two markers of the season to polish off the scoring for Montclair State. 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • TYLER MCCREERY notched two goals and six assists, with MIKE MCCREERY chipping in a goal and three helpers.
  • Covino tallied five goals, with Dancsecs adding three. Six different Red Hawks had two or more goals in the victory.
  • Metzger made 10 saves in the first half, with BRANDON SHEVINS making six in 24:03.
  • JACK WHITE caused four turnovers and added a team-high seven ground balls.
UP NEXT
The Red Hawks close the regular season Wednesday as they head to Kean for a 7 pm matchup in Union, NJ.
