History

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's lacrosse downed Anna Maria College 26-2 in non-conference action Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Red Hawks (6-6) opened an 8-0 lead in the first quarter. JACK NORBERTO, JOE COVINO, and AIDAN MAXWELL had two goals during the spurt as TYLER MCCREERY, MIKE MCCREERY, and RYAN VIERBUCHEN racked up multiple assists.
Anna Maria paused the run with 30 seconds left in the first before Montclair continued to pour it on. The Red Hawks outscored the AMCATS 11-0 in the second period, outshooting them 17-4. Norberto and TYLER MCCREERY capped off hat tricks during the explosive frame.
LOUIS AZARA and JOHN CRANK tallied goals midway through the third stanza before Anna Maria netted their second goal of the afternoon with 2:05 left in the third. Montclair held the guests off the scoreboard in the fourth, with Crank, LIAM HORTON, Azara, JACKSON SIMONS, and RYAN BROWN adding tallies.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

The 26 goals marked a season-high for the team and just three of the modern-day record of 29.
TYLER MCCREERY matched a career-high with nine points, finishing with four goals and five assists.
Vierbutchen dished out a personal-best seven assists while adding a goal, with Covino and Norberto registering hat-tricks.
CHRISTIAN SHOTWELL paced the defense with three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
DAVID METZGER, BRANDON SHEVINS, and OWEN TORREY combined to make six saves, with Metzger denying five.
