Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State women's lacrosse team fell to No. 4 The College of New Jersey in its New Jersey Athletic Conference opener Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Lions wasted no time, scoring six goals in the opening quarter. Montclair goalkeeper JOEY GROTKOPF prevented additional damage, recording five first-period saves.
• TCNJ extended the margin to double figures with four additional tallies in the second stanza. The Lions outshot the Red Hawks 28-2 in the first half and caused 11 first-half turnovers.
• The Lions capped off the scoring with nine second-half markers, including five in the third quarter and four in the fourth.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• After missing the last few games, NORAH MONAGHAN led the Red Hawks with two shots on goal.
• JOELLE D'ANGELO picked up four ground balls as KAITLIN ZAZZARO forced two turnovers.
• Grotkopf and LEA HEGEWALD combined to make nine saves.
