Second Half Rally Leads Field Hockey Past Muhlenberg

Allentown, Pa. – CARLY AMERMAN and CARLIE VAN TASSEL tallied second-half goals to propel the Montclair State University field hockey team to a 2-1 triumph over Muhlenberg Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Mules broke through for the contest's first goal in the 17th minute, but the Montclair defense was stifling throughout the game. They held Muhlenberg to four shots over the first 30 minutes, as MCKENNA LAMAN made one save.
  • Montclair started to get their rhythm in the third corner as they earned three penalty corners. They found the back of the net on the third one, as KELLY WESTERVELT inserted the try to SADIE EICHLIN. Eichlin found CARLY AMERMAN and the senior fired into the back of the goal to tie things at one.
  • Muhlenberg had the first two shots of the fourth, but the Montclair pulled in front with 3:45 left. Once again, Montclair was rewarded off a corner. Westervelt found Amerman, and the senior got the ball to classmate CARLIE VAN TASSEL. The Vernon, NJ native capitalized and scored, pushing Montclair in front.
