No. 17 Women's Soccer Falls Against Hartford

Montclair, NJ - The No. 17 Montclair State University women's soccer team fell to the University of Hartford 4-1 Sunday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • The Hawks threatened early, but HALEY MARTIN stopped a one-on-one chance with a save that went out for a corner. As the half progressed, LAUREN ERNST had the first try for Montclair from the middle of the box but couldn't convert.
  • The Red Hawks broke through 23:38 into the opening period, as off a hydration break, EMMI DENOVELLIS's throw-in found the foot of KYLIE PRENDERGAST. Prendergast got to the edge of the box and crossed to MADELINE LESICA, who tapped the pass in to give Montclair a 1-0 lead.
  • Hartford controlled the second half, scoring four times in the first 21 minutes of the stanza to break the game open.
  • The Red Hawks' best chance of the second period came in the 87th minute, as rookie SHANNON MULLINS rifled a shot from outside the box. The try was punched over the crossbar and went out for a corner kick.
