Radoncic's Late Goal Sends Men's Soccer Past Babson, 2-1

Montclair, NJ - ENIR RADONCIC scored with 1:16 remaining in the second to help the Montclair State University men's soccer team top Babson 2-1 Friday evening.

AMER LUKOVIC added his sixth goal of the season for Montclair (3-0-0) in the second half.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The two sides traded shots early in the contest, with goalkeepers SHANE KEENAN and Walker White making saves. Montclair and Babson combined for a mere 12 shots, with White making four saves and Keenan making one.
  • Montclair turned up the pressure in the second half, as REED KARSEN's 50th-minute shot was denied by White, with the unit registering the first three chances of the second stanza.
  • The hosts broke for the first marker in the 77th minute. IAN CHESNEY sent a long ball in that was corralled by ANTHONY VIOLA. Viola weaved into the box and laid a pass off for Lukovic. The junior took two touches, ripped the shot near-post, and glanced off the goalkeeper's hands and in.
  • The Beavers answered back nearly five minutes later, as a corner kick found the head of a Beaver player. Babson had the momentum, taking the next two shots, but Keenan made the save in the 83rd minute.
  • Hunting for the go-ahead marker, Montclair was rewarded late in the game. OSBIN MENDEZ started the play off with an excellent service off a corner, as the ball appeared to cross the line, but the referee signaled to play on. Mendez got the ball back and booted a left-footed cross that Radoncic headed in. The Red Hawks ran out the rest of the clock to cement the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Lukovic has scored in all three games, running his team-leading goal total to six.
  • Montclair outshot Babson 17-9, including an 8-3 margin with shots on target.
  • Keenan made two saves to earn his second victory of the season.
