OLIVIA SALMONS posted victories in the diving sections as the Red Hawks fell to the United States Coast Guard Academy, scoring 179.40 points in the opener before tallying 186.75 later. The Red Hawks took second in the 200-medley relay as

MADELINE ROGERS, and
ROURKE PERALTA turned in a time of 1:52.68.
JULIE TIEDEMANN started the individual events with a victory, winning the 1,000-free in 11:02.67. The junior edged second place by a mere .08 seconds. Shopovick grabbed second in the 100-back, touching the wall in 1:01.59. Peralta notched a win in the 50-free, as they clocked in at 24.91, nearly a second faster than second.
MARIANNE TASSINARI (2:15.3),
CATTY GEYER (2:20.08), and
LILI SHAY (2:21.15) claimed the top three spots in the 200-IM before the 200-free relay squad of Brock, Tiedemann, Rogers, and Tassinari won in 1:44.71.
SERIES HISTORY
Montclair is 7-44-1 against the Lions but are 3-4 over their last seven meetings. The Red Hawks claimed consecutive wins in the 2017 and 2018 campaigns after going 5-0-1 in the mid-80s for their best stretch.
LAST MEETING
Montclair State, who topped the Lions 182-118 on January 21, 2023, started strong with
SOPHIA SHOPOVICK,
ABBY BROCK,
CATTY GEYER, and
ROURKE PERALTA, claiming first place in the first event of the afternoon. The foursome won the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:52.61.
JULIE TIEDEMANN picked up the individual victory of the day as she notched a time of 11:08.22 in the 1,000-free. Tiedemann made it two consecutive individual wins in a row as she returned to win the 200-freestyle in 2:00.18, with
KATE CIPOLETTI second in 2:01.96. Shopovick and
ERIN BARRETT went 1-2 in the 100-back, with Shopovick edging her teammate by a mere .17 seconds. The sophomore was first in 1:02.77, followed by Barrett in 1:02.94. Brock and
LILI SHAY claimed the top two spots in the 100-breaststroke, as Brock was first in 1:09.59 and Shay second in 1:13.84. Rookies Geyer,
SYDNEY MCGANN, and
MADELINE ROGERS were 1-2-3 in the 200-fly, as Geyer won by nearly five seconds in 2:20.79. Peralta was clipped by Shannon Hesse by .01 in the 50-freestyle before rebounding with a 54.62 in the 100-free. She edged out Hesse by .12 in that event. Shopovick settled for second in 2:16.78 during the 200-back before Brock claimed first in the 200-breast in 2:35.2. Tiedemann completed her big day with a third individual win, touching the wall in 5:23.12 as Cipoletti was second in 5:29.47. Geyer capped off the wins with a first-place mark of 2:19.89 in the 200-IM, as
JULIET DI PASQUALE was second in 2:21.1.
