Wayne, NJ Behind two first half goals, the #7 Montclair State University men's soccer team clinched its 11th consecutive victory as it took down William Paterson 2-0 on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (11-2-1, 5-0-0 NJAC) opened the contest with a barrage of shots in the opening minutes, as ALFREDO ROJAS and OSBIN MENDEZ ripped attempts to start the game on the front foot. In the sixth minute, Mendez sent a bouncing ball into the box that was tapped in by ANDRE SHELTON to give Montclair an early lead.
  • Montclair continued to push with a shot from SALEM ELLISY in the 23rd minute that was saved in the bottom right portion of the net by the Pioneers. William Paterson notched its first attempt on frame in the 31st minute that was collected by ALEXANDER VELASQUEZ.
  • The visitors doubled their advantage in the 37th minute, as Mendez served in a cross off a free kick that landed in front of the net for REED KARSEN, who tapped it past the keeper.
  • Montclair opened the second frame strong on the offensive end with four shots over the opening 20 minutes, including an attempt on goal from Shelton. Defensively, the Red Hawks limited the Pioneers to one shot in the second half, sealing another shutout victory.
