Montclair, NJ. – The Montclair State University women's soccer team (6-5-5, 3-2-1 NJAC) was tripped up during their NJAC matchup at Rowan (11-0-2, 6-0-0 NJAC), 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was the Profs who got on the board first in the 19th minute of the game when a Rowan player collected a short pass into the box, played around a defender and was able to finish a shot into the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead.
- Only 30 seconds after that, SHANNON MULLINS played a ball through to KYLIE PRENDERGAST, who was able to win her one-on-one with the goalie and tie the game up 1-1.
- Montclair did not have the lead for long though. Rowan regained the lead at the 21:42 timestamp in the game when they connected on a free kick attempt just outside of the penalty box to take a 2-1 lead.
- The Profs extended their lead just before halftime on a double cross into the box and a one-touch finish gave them a 3-1 lead going into the second half.
- The Red Hawks in the second half, outshot the Profs 9-5, but were never able to find the back of the net. NIKI DANZ and NICOLE RICCI both saw oppurtunities in the first few minutes of the half while Prendergast and SAMIRA LUKOVIC found opportunities in the 62nd minute, but each one of those shots were saved. Time eventually ran out and the Profs kept their unbeaten season alive
