Volleyball Wins Sixth-Straight; Sweeps Ramapo 3-0

Mahwah, NJ The Montclair State University volleyball team took down Ramapo in straight sets, 3-0, for its sixth consecutive victory on Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (14-6, 5-1 NJAC) battled with the Roadrunners early, as the two sides were locked at 6-4 after the opening 10 points. Three consecutive kills from RACHEL CURRAN ballooned the lead to four, and Montclair eventually pushed the early advantage to five on another kill from Curran later in the frame. After Ramapo cut the margin to 14-11, the visitors notched six-straight points, led by two kills from CAMRYN MUUSS. Montclair built their largest advantage of the opening stanza on a kill from Curran at 22-14, who later closed the set at 25-17.
  • Montclair kicked off the second set with five of the first six points, including two service aces from EMMA HATCHER. With the score 8-4, the visitors rattled off six consecutive points to push the advantage to nine. Three consecutive attack errors from the Roadrunners later pushed the Montclair lead to 11. BRYN BAUTISTA notched a pair of kills, and EMILY FERRI later capped off the set with a pair of her own to clinch the second frame at 25-19.
  • For the second-straight set, the Red Hawks opened with five of the first six points led by two service aces from Hatcher. After Ramapo took a slim lead at 6-5, Curran tallied back-to-back kills to give the Red Hawks the lead again. The Roadrunners later retook the advantage again at 11-9, but Montclair answered with six points in a row. With the score 17-16, the visitors finished out the match with eight of the final 10 points to clinch the contest.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
  • Montclair has won six-straight, the most since the 2021 season, when it rattled off 13 victories in a row. The Red Hawks have won five or more consecutive matches twice this season.
  • The Red Hawks have won their last five within New Jersey Athletic Conference play, their most since 2021.
  • Curran finished with a match-high 12 kills, her most since September 20 against Stevens. It marked her seventh contest this season with double-figure kills.
  • Hatcher matched her career-high of seven service aces, set on OCtober 10, 2023 against NJCU.
