#19 Men's Soccer Edged by Stockton, 1-0

Galloway, NJ The #19 Montclair State University men's soccer team was edged by Stockton 1-0 on Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (12-4-1, 6-2-0 NJAC) generated looks early, as they rattled off four of the first five shot attempts over the opening 20-plus minutes, including two from ALFREDO ROJAS. After Stockton saw an attempt miss, SAMUEL EPITIME registered the first shot on goal in the 28th minute that had to be saved by the Ospreys.
  • Six minutes later, SEBASTIAN LAPCZYNSKI ripped a shot that had to be saved bottom center by Stockton to keep the game scoreless. The home side notched the final two attempts of the first half, but could not put one on frame as the opening 45 minutes ended scoreless.
  • ALEXANDER VELASQUEZ was tested four minutes into the second stanza, as the first year goalkeeper had to tally two saves within 30 seconds. The two sides traded two shots each over the next five minutes before Montclair notched two more shots on goal from Epitime and OSBIN MENDEZ.
  • Stockton struck for the night's lone goal in the 76th minute on a quick counterattack that started just on the edge of midfield. Velasquez made a huge save late in the game to keep the margin at one, but the Red Hawks could not find the equalizer.

  • Velasquez finished the contest with three saves in net for the Red Hawks.
  • Epitome led the way for Montclair with three shots, including two on goal.

The Red Hawks will conclude the regular season on Wednesday, October 30, as they host Rutgers-Camden on Senior Night. Kickoff from MSU Soccer Park is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
