Women's Soccer Surges Past Rutgers-Camden, 3-0

Camden, NJ The Montclair State University women's soccer team surged past Rutgers-Camden, 3-0, to conclude the regular season on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (9-5-5, 6-2-1 NJAC) opened the contest with an offensive barrage, as MACKENZIE ALBERT and KYLIE PRENDERGAST each saw shot attempts saved within the first three minutes. The visitors took the lead shortly after, as Albert sent in a cross from the right side that found Prendergast, who ripped a shot to the center of the net to break open the scoring.
  • Two minutes later, Montclair doubled their lead, as JULIE BAKER redirected a corner kick from EMMI DENOVELLIS into the back of the net. The Red Hawks continued to push early, as AILEEN CAHILL and Prendergast each saw shots on goal stopped over the next 12 minutes.
  • Montclair added their third of the half in the 35th minute, as SAMIRA LUKOVIC sent a pass from the left side of the field to the back right for NIKI DANZ, who sent a shot past the keeper. SALANGE BELL gathered a save a few minutes later to preserve the margin going into the halftime break.
  • TARA LAMBERT hit the crossbar twice in the opening eight minutes of the second half as Montclair continued their push offensively. Bell notched another save in the 61st minute, and the Red Hawks added two more shots on goal shortly after from SHANNON MULLINS and SOPHIA GAMBUTI. The visitors did not allow a shot the rest of the way, sealing their sixth victory of conference play.
