Field Hockey Falls to Rowan to Conclude Regular Season

Montclair, NJ The Montclair State University field hockey team fell to Rowan, 6-0, on Saturday afternoon at Sprague Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (13-5, 4-1 NJAC) fell behind early as the Profs struck for a goal in the top center of the cage in the third minute. Rowan doubled their advantage 27 seconds later, as they scored off a penalty corner.
  • SYDNEY WHITE notched a save in the fifth minute to keep the margin at two, but the visitors added their third marker of the stanza a minute later. The Profs increased the margin to four in the ninth minute, and Montclair aimed to cut into the deficit with a shot from SADIE EICHLIN, but it was blocked by Rowan late in the quarter.
  • Rowan tallied three shots in the second frame, but the Red Hawks were able to keep the Profs out of the cage, as White recorded another save in the 26th minute to keep the margin at four going into the half.
  • The visitors struck within the opening two minutes coming out of the break to bump the margin to five. White notched two more saves during an offensive barrage in the 35th minute, and JOEY MAYER tallied back-to-back shots on goal to try and get the Red Hawks on the board. Rowan recorded their sixth goal of the afternoon in the 51st minute and were able to close out the remaining minutes to wrap up the regular season.
