Men's Basketball Falls to Stockton

Galloway, NJ The Montclair State University men's basketball team fell to Stockton 91-81 on Saturday afternoon. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (15-7, 10-5 NJAC) opened the game with the first six points on back-to-back three point shots from MIKE JACKSON. The guard converted on a floating jumper with 12:56 on the clock to make the score 13-7.
  • Stockton scored the next five points over 67 seconds to cut the margin to one. Montclair pushed the margin back to two possessions, as AHMAD ROBERTSON scored to make the score 19-14 at the nine minute mark of the first half.
  • The home side struck for eight-straight to take their first lead of the contest with seven minutes remaining in the frame. They maintained a lead for the next five minutes, going up by as much as eight. 
  • Montclair tied the game at 1:41 on the clock on a three from KUNGA TSERING and retook the lead on a dunk from Robertson. The two sides went into the break with the visitors holding a slight 42-41 advantage.
  • The Ospreys scored 10 of the first 15 points of the second half to go up by four points four minutes in. Jackson connected on a three-point shot to level the game a minute later at 51.
  • Both sides battled for the lead over the next few minutes. QUANTAVIOUS ROGERS hit a layup with 11:33 remaining to give Montclair the lead at 62-60. Stockton reclaimed the lead less than a minute later, and used a 31-19 scoring run over the final 11 minutes of the game to seal the victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Robertson led Montclair with a career-high 20 points on 7-9 shooting from the field and 4-5 from three-point range.
  • Jackson finished with 18 points and five boards. The guard has recorded double-digit scoring totals in all but three games this season. 
  • KYREE HENRY tallied 15 points, and KIERAN FLANAGAN was the final Red Hawk in double-figures with 12 points.

The Red Hawks return home to take on Ramapo on Wednesday, February 7. Tip-off from the Panzer Athletic Center is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
