Women's Basketball Tripped Up At Stockton

Galloway, NJ – The Montclair State University women's basketball team was tripped up by New Jersey Athletic Conference rival Stockton University 58-39 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks used a 7-0 run in the first quarter to construct a 7-4 lead midway through the frame. TERESA WOLAK had four points, and ALEXIS STROLLO capped the run with a triple as the team held Stockton scoreless for nearly three minutes.
  • Strollo gave Montclair a slim one-point lead with a pair from the free throw line entering the second, and an ISABELLA ORLANDO three-pointer 1:36 into the second gave Montclair their biggest lead at 19-14.
  • An 8-0 Stockton spurt gave them the lead back before BRIANNA MONTAJES halted the rally with a jumper and tied the score at 22 with free throw. Stockton held Montclair scoreless for the final 3:12 and tallied the final 10 points of the half to lead 32-22 at the break.
  • The run continued into the third, as Stockton reeled off the first six markers of the frame before an Orlando triple halted the run. A shot from deep by KATIE STOVALL with 1:05 left in the third trimmed the deficit to 12, which was as close as they got the rest of the way.
