Baseball Downs Redlands Behind Angelo's Career Day

Redlands, CA The Montclair State University baseball team topped University of Redlands 12-2 Tuesday afternoon behind a five hit, nine RBI performance from SAM ANGELO.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (10-1) put the first two runners on base for Angelo, who homered to center field to put the Red Hawks up immediately. Later in the frame, JOE GISONDA doubled to right center, and JASON MOORE brought him in the next at-bat on a home run to left field. Montclair tacked on a sixth run in the first as REECE MALEK scored following a fielding error.
  • PATRICK CUCCURULLO put up three shutout innings on the mound, and Angelo homered again in the top of the fourth to drive in three more runs to make the score 9-0. Redlands scored their first tally of the contest in the bottom of the inning on a single up the middle.
  • Montclair continued their offensive push in the sixth, placing the first two batters on base for Angelo, who singled through the left side to bring in both base runners.
  • CHRISTIAN ADDOTTA came into the game in relief, throwing two shutout frames while facing one over the minimum.
  • The Bulldogs added a second run in the bottom of the eighth on a sacrifice fly to left field. Montclair answered with a tally in the ninth on another RBI single to make the final margin 10.
