Men's Lacrosse Falls to Endicott

Montclair, NJ The Montclair State University men's lacrosse team fell to Endicott College 18-8 on Wednesday afternoon at Sprague Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (2-4) started the contest strong, as RYAN VIERBUCHEN found ETHAN MOUNIER to break open the scoring four minutes in. Vierbuchen struck three minutes later to double the advantage on an unassisted marker.
  • After the Gulls cut the margin in half, the two sides held each other scoreless for six minutes before JOHN CRANK made the score 3-1 in the final minute of the stanza. 
  • Endicott scored four of the next five goals bridging into the second quarter to take their first lead of the contest with 9:50 remaining in the half. Mounier leveled the contest with five minutes on the clock, but the Gulls answered with the remaining six markers of the quarter.
  • The visitors struck in the opening two minutes of the third quarter to take a six goal advantage. Mounier found the back of the net off a feed from JACK CLEARY before Endicott responded with three consecutive goals over the next three minutes.
  • Crank tallied a man-advantage goal with just over 90 seconds left in the third, but the Gulls closed the contest with four of the remaining five goals.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Mounier finished with three goals and two assists in the contest, marking his sixth career hat trick. 
  • Vierbuchen and Crank each collected two goals, with Vierbuchen extending his goal streak to six to begin the campaign.
  • BRANDON SHEVINS tallied 18 saves in net, marking the third time this season he has recorded 15 or more stops. It fell two short of his career-high of 20 set on March 6 at Scranton.
