STEPHANIE SERETIS drove in four runs over two games as the Montclair State University softball swept Keene State College on Sunday.
The Red Hawks (9-7) won 6-0 in game one before knocking off the Owls 7-5 in the nightcap.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Red Hawks scored in their first at-bat, as RILEIGH GLYNN led off with a single. After stealing second and third, Glynn raced home on a wild pitch for the opening run. They doubled the lead in the second, Glynn delivered an RBI single. MARIAH CARRASCO and NOELLE WOOD had singled and each stole a bag to move up before the Glynn knock.
- Montclair added to their margin in the fourth. Carrasco singled and a walk to KELSEY MCFADDEN put runners on first and second. KAYLA COSENTINO singled to load the bases before Seretis brought new home with a single to center.
- The Red Hawks closed out game one scoring in the fifth. KATIE BRUNNER led off with a single to left and moved to third on a bunt and wild pitch. Carrasco brought her home on a sacrifice fly to right.
- Carrasco opened the scoring in game two, singling home Seretis with two outs in the first. The Owls responded scoring four unearned runs in the second to grab a 4-1 advantage.
- The Red Hawks regained the lead in the fourth, scoring five runs on five hits. MADISON LEECH and Glynn led off with infield singles before moving up on stolen bases. Cosentino walked and Seretis dropped a single to left to score two. JULIANA CASILLAS had an RBI on a fielder's choice before LIZ MULLEN and CHLOE SAPERSTEIN notched RBI hits to polish off the scoring.
- Cosentino singled home Glynn in the fifth, as the senior had led off with a single. The Owls got a run back in the sixth but SAGE RIZZI escaped further damage with a strikeout and fly out. Keene State threatened in the seventh, putting runners on first and third. BROOKE BIAMONTE got the final three outs, including a line out to second to end it.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Red Hawks stole 12 bases over the two games, with Glynn swiping five.
- Seretis had two RBI in each game, with Carrasco and Leech scoring twice in the opener.
- ALI CAVALLARO fanned eight in six innings in game one, as Rizzi struck out six in six innings of game two.
