Montclair, NJ The Montclair State University baseball team knocked off Maritime College 11-5 Monday afternoon at Yogi Berra Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • PATRICK CUCCURULLO struck out three over the next three innings, allowing only one runner to get into scoring position. Montclair added a run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single from Johnson.
  • McKenna homered to right center field the following inning and Angelo brought in Malek on a sacrifice fly in the sixth to make the margin seven.
  • The Privateers climbed back into the contest in the top of the seventh as they added four runs, three coming on a three run home run to left center. With runners on second and third, TYLER CIRONE tallied a strikeout to end the push for Maritime.
  • Montclair immediately responded with four runs in the bottom half of the stanza. Malek reached on a fielder's choice that brought in MILES FEASTER and JASON MOORE sent a triple into center field that scored two runs. MAX MCLOUGHLIN bunted in the final tally to expand the lead back to seven.
  • Maritime added a final run in the top of the ninth, but could not get any closer.
