Union, NJ – The Montclair State University women's lacrosse team outscored Kean University 7-3 in the second half en route to a 12-9 victory in their New Jersey Athletic Conference opener on Wednesday.

AMRA LUKOVIC led the Red Hawks (7-2, 1-0 NJAC) with a season-high four goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The two sides alternated goals early before KAELEY SEK and Lukovic netted man-up tallies from CHELSEA STACK. The Cougars stormed back, bridging the first and second quarters with a 3-0 spurt.
• Lukovic stopped the run with an assisted goal before Kean went ahead 6-4 on markers 45 seconds apart. NORAH MONAGHAN recorded the final goal of the first half as Montclair entered halftime down 6-5.
• Montclair used the Monaghan goal to go on a 3-0 run, with the sophomore Lukovic capping off her hat trick during the rally. Kean got within one at 9-8 before SAMANTHA HANDZO converted a man-up goal with 9:20 left to bring the margin back to two.
• Monaghan and Lukovic capped off the Red Hawks scoring late in the fourth before Kean scored with 2:43 left to establish the final margin.
