Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Edged By Rowan 14-12

Montclair, NJ– Montclair State Women's Lacrosse Team downed by Rowan in the last regular season game of the year. The Red Hawks secure the fourth seed in the NJAC conference tournament. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Rowan's four goal run was thwarted in the tenth minute of play by AMRA LUKOVIC who scored the first goal of the game for the Red Hawks. 
  • Montclair lessened their deficit to two thanks to a LEXI ROBINSON goal from KAELEY SEK with 5:20 left in the first quarter.
  • The Red Hawks ended the quarter only trailing by one as Robinson put another goal past Rowan off a Lukovic assist. 
  • NORAH MONAGHAN tied the game up as she scored after CHELSEA STACK recorded a ground ball off a Rowan turnover two minutes into the second. 
  • Rowan would score six times in the quarter only giving up one goal to the Red Hawks, a Lukovic goal off a Sek assist with ten seconds left in the half.
  • Stack scored the first goal for the Red Hawks of the second half off a free position goal to bring the score to 11-6.
  • Monaghan and Lukovic scored the two other goals for the Red Hawks in the third. They entered the fourth trailing 12-8. 
  • Montclair scored the last four goals of the game bringing the game within two goals. Unfortunately they could not put it away as they ended the day down two falling to Rowan 14-12.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Lukovic led the Red Hawks with five goals. She led both teams with seven points. 
  • DANIELLE DE JESUS led the defensive charge netting four caused turnovers and four ground balls.

"Not the outcome we wanted but this team never let up! Even when we dug ourselves a hole we continued to fight. I'm extremely proud of our team and looking forward to the playoffs." - Head Coach Nicol Parcelluzzi.

UP NEXT

The Red Hawks will take on TCNJ in the first round of NJAC playoffs Wednesday. Time is TBD.
