Women's Lacrosse Sets School-Record For Goals In 24-9 Win

Purchase, NY – The Montclair State University women's lacrosse team set a school record with 24 goals en route to a 24-9 win over Manhattanville College on Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Vailants opened the game with two of the first three markers before Robinson kicked off a 7-0 spurt to end the first. LEXI ROBINSON, NORAH MONAGHAN, and AMRA LUKOVIC scored two goals apiece during the stretch, and Monaghan and Lukovic added an assist. KAELEY SEK capped the run with a goal with one second left, and Montclair led 9-2 after one.
  • The hosts netted the first two goals of the second quarter to get within five, but Montclair answered with three straight. SAMANTHA HANDZO started the run while Robinson polished off her hat trick.
  • Montclair bridged the second and third quarters with a 7-3 rally, with CARA MCCARTNEY recording two man-up tallies.
  • The Red Hawks outscored Manhattanville 5-1 in the fourth, as Sek, KYRA MORENA, and MEGHAN VITALE had man-up goals. SHAINA SWEEZY and Stack completed the goal-scoring barrage late in the contest. 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Red Hawks surpassed their previous record of 22 goals in a game, which they had set seven times previously. Montclair last scored 22 goals against Rutgers-Camden on April 21, 2021.
  • Robinson paced the Red Hawks with five goals and an assist while adding two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
  • Stack contributed four goals and three assists, with Monaghan posting four goals and an assist.
  • Sek, Handzo, Lukovic, and McCartney added two goals each, with Lukovic recording six draw controls.
