Babson Park , MA – The #12 Montclair State University men's soccer team was edged by Babson 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Red Hawks (0-2) opened the contest with shots from SAMUEL EPITIME and OSBIN MENDEZ over the opening 20 minutes. Montclair blocked the first attempt from the Beavers, who saw another attempt go over the crossbar in the waning stages of the defensive first half.
- Babson struck for two goals within 63 seconds to claim a multi-goal advantage in the second half. KEVIN CONTRERAS came close to cutting into the deficit eight minutes later, as he had a shot attempt saved by the Beavers and a second that hit the post from 18 yards out.
- After SALEM ELLISY was taken down in the right side of the box, Epitime stepped up and converted a penalty kick attempt to cut the deficit in half in the 73rd minute. Contreras had a shot blocked three minutes later, and the Babson defense tightened up to close out the contest.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
- The goal for Epitime marked the first of his Montclair career in just his second game.
- ALEXANDER VELASQUEZ tallied five saves in net for the Red Hawks.
