#12 Men's Soccer Draws Milwaukee School of Engineering 1-1

Montclair, NJ The Montclair State University men's soccer team and the Milwaukee School of Engineering played to a 1-1 draw on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (0-2-1) opened the game with three of the first four shots in the opening 20 minutes, including two from REED KARSEN. The Raiders tallied the game's first shot on goal a minute later, but it was gathered up in the bottom center of the goal by ALEXANDER VELASQUEZ.
  • After Montclair headed out a corner kick from the near side by the Raiders in the 36th minute, the visitors collected the resulting loose ball and fired a shot from outside the box that took a few bounces into the low right corner to take the lead.
  • The Red Hawks started the second half strong, recording seven shots, including three on goal, within the opening 15 minutes. They found the equalizer in the 63rd minute, as OSBIN MENDEZ served in a corner kick from the near side that was headed towards goal by THOMAS PIAZZA. After the visitors cleared the initial attempt, ALFREDO ROJAS collected the ball and sent in a cross from the far side that was headed down and into the net by IAN CHESNEY.
  • Both sides tightened up defensively down the stretch as they combined for one shot on goal the rest of the way.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
  • Chesney's goal was the 11th of his collegiate career and the first since October 7, 2023. Rojas notched his third assist for his Montclair tenure.
  • Velasquez notched three saves in net for the Red Hawks.
  • The Red Hawks outshot the Raiders 13-9 for the game, marking a new season-high.
