Dallas, Pa. – The Montclair State women's soccer team fell on the road to nationally ranked #5 Misericordia, 1-0 on Wednesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half advantage belonged to the Cougars as they controlled the ball on offense most the time, generating 12 shots to the Red Hawks six. At the 38:16 timestamp, Misericordia's Alyssa Steenback fired in a shot into the back of the net to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead into the second half.
- MSU fought hard to put in the equalizer during the second half and outshot Misericordia by a large margin of 11-4, but could not find the back of the net. The best opportunity came when EMMI DENOVELLIS rocketed a shot that hit top woodwork at the 48:38 mark and the Cougars fended off the Red Hawks the rest of the way to take the win.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
- SALANGE BELL went the distance in the contest and made six saves, which was her second highest total of the season.
- Montclair ultimately out shot Misericordia in the contest, 17-16.
From the Field
- "The players overcame injuries and illness to play a game against a national championships contender. We were unlucky to not get at least a tie from the game, but it wasn't meant to be" Head Coach Patrick Naughter.
