Women's Soccer Falls to #23 Hartford

Hartford, CT  The Montclair State University women's soccer team fell to the University of Hartford 2-0 Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (1-1-2) faced five shots from Hartford in the opening 10 minutes, but SALANGE BELL notched three saves to keep the match level. Over the next 20 minutes, the two sides combined for two shots as both defenses tightened up. 
  • The home side took the lead in the 32nd minute, and put one more shot on goal before the break, but Bell collected another save.
  • Montclair came out of halftime strong, as NATALIE RUFINO sent a shot towards the top of the net that had to be saved by the Hawks two minutes in. In the 55th minute, SAMIRA LUKOVIC put another shot on target that had to be collected by Hartford. 
  • The Hawks doubled their advantage in the 73rd minute, and only allowed one shot on goal the rest of the way to seal the victory.

  • Bell tallied five saves in the contest for the Red Hawks, three behind her career high of eight set on August 30, 2024 against Swarthmore.

The Red Hawks will conclude their five game season-opening road swing with a trip to face Misericordia on Wednesday, September 11. Kickoff from Dallas, PA is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
