Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University Women's soccer team is back to NJAC play for the remainder of the season and will start the final stretch of the season at Rutgers-Newark on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
Montclair finished off its non-conference schedule on the road with a 2-0 win at Western Connecticut on Wednesday evening. The Wolves went on the attack early and generated an early corner opportunity in the first 30 seconds, but found nothing out of it. Montclair flipped the script and set up a corner in the second minute. Prendergast took the first shot of the game a minute later, but had it saved. It wasn't until the 19
th minute that Montclair found the back of the net. Prendergast assisted
SHANNON MULLINS at 19:30 time stamp for the 1-0 lead. The Red Hawks kept Western Connecticut off the offensive side for the rest of the first half. Montclair had two more shots on goal down the stretch, but the shots were saved, and the match went 1-0 into the intermission.
MADELINE LESICA kicked off the second half with a shot on goal that was saved in the 49
th minute. After both teams exchanged a flurry of shots, a yellow card issued to Western Connecticut led to a set piece, where Prendergast fired in a goal at the 79:03 mark to extend the lead to 2-0. West Conn tallied two shots down the stretch, with one going wide and one being denied by

th minute to secure the shutout and keep Montclair unbeaten on the season.

SCOUTING RUTGERS-NEWARK
The Scarlet Raiders are entering this showdown with a 7-5-1 overall record and a 1-1-1 NJAC record. They fell to King's, 1-0, in their last contest on Wednesday. In 2024, Newark finished 5-10-3 and 1-7-1 in NJAC play, which saw it miss the NJAC Tournament. According to the 2025 NJAC Preseason Poll, Rutgers-Newark is projected to finish eighth this season.
SERIES HISTORY
The Red Hawks and the Scarlet Raiders will face off with each other for the 27
