Women's Soccer Battles #11 Rowan to a 2-2 Draw

Montclair, NJ The Montclair State University women's soccer team battled back for a 2-2 draw against #11 Rowan on Saturday afternoon at MSU Soccer Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (9-0-5, 4-0-2 NJAC) fell behind in the third minute, as a run to the near end line was crossed into the box, where the Profs headed it into the top left corner of the net. Montclair tried to answer shortly after, but a shot from SAMIRA LUKOVIC just missed the frame.
  • As the half continued, the Red Hawks kept searching for the equalizer, as DANIELLE MULLINS tried to slot a shot to the low left corner of goal, but the Rowan keeper came up with the stop in the 26th minute. Montclair did not allow a shot for the rest of the first half following the goal, as the Profs went into half up one.
  • Montclair leveled the contest in the 56th minute, as ISABELL KRONOW collected the ball in front of the Montclair bench on the far side and surged up the touch line. The forward entered the edge of the box and ripped a centering ball to KYLIE PRENDERGAST, who tucked a right-footed shot into the near post.
  • The Profs reclaimed the lead in the 74th minute, as a ball from the far end line was centered right in front of goal for a right-footed flick into the net. Montclair equalized 11 minutes later, as a scramble in front of frame following a corner kick found the foot of SHANNON MULLINS, who cut to the right and sent a shot past the keeper. SALANGE BELL tallied a crucial save in the final five minutes as the two sides played to a tightly-contested draw.

FROM THE FIELD
