Brock’s Win in 100 Breaststroke Spotlights Women’s Swimming & Diving on NJAC Championships Day Three

Hampden, Virginia – Senior ABBY BROCK was victorious in the 100 breaststroke for her first-ever individual gold medal and broke the school's record to spotlight day three of the NJAC Championship.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Brock qualified for the championship and outraced the competition for a school-record 1:43.39 swim. She bested her record of 1:04.70 that she set last year at the NJAC Championship. LILI SHAY, SARAH FONDACARO, and SADIE CRISPELL all made finals in the same event. In the "B" finals, Shay placed 13^th (1:07.31) and was followed by Fondacaro in 15^th (1:07.83). Crispell competed in the "C" final and placed 23^rd overall with a time of 1:09.43.
AUDREY HITCHENS was the lone diver competing in the 1m dive for Montclair. She showed out and broke the longest-standing record on the MSU women's record board when she posted a six-dive score of 267.60. That score was also good for a podium finish and a bronze medal with a third-place finish.
Marianne Tassanari was the last record breaker and podium placement of the night for the Red Hawks. She broke her previous record in the 400 IM of 4:36.25 from last year with a 4:31.04 that placed third. ABBY PANZARELLA competed in the "B" final and placed 15^th with a time of 4:44.31. KACIE GADZINSKI was a "C" final qualifier. She placed 18^th overall with a time of 4:44.88.
In the 200 free, Julie Tidemann represented Montclair in the championship final. She placed fourth in the field with a career-best time of 1:55.44. In the "C" finals were ROURKE PERALTA, DEVYN FORD, and Julianna Skopp-Cardillo. Peralta won the final in 17^th (1:57.24) and was followed directly Ford in 18^th (1:59.62). Skopp-Cardillo rounded it off tying for 19^th place with a time of 1:59.62.
In the 100 back, JULIA WEINREB notched a spot in the championship final. She placed eighth overall with a time of 59.57. Panzarella, in her second swim of the night, placed 15^th with a time of 1:00.52.
MADELINE ROGERS earned the highest placement for the Red Hawks in the 100 fly. She was a part of the "B" final and placed 11^th with a time of 59.11. MADDY WISHNOW was the other representative for Montclair in the event where she competed in the "C" final and clocked a 1:01.87 to place 22^nd.

UP NEXT

The NJAC Championships will conclude on Sunday, February 15. The trial meet will take place at 9:30 am at the Hampden Aquaplex with the finals meet kicking off at 5:00 pm.
